One of the most scandalous pieces of writing published in the period of Cold War was "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. The British press of that time was extremely centralized and it was difficult to publish anything. When the book was published it was a real victory for the writer. Though, notwithstanding the extreme centralization there was no censorship that made Britain opposite to the Soviet Union. British government found itself in a difficulty: first, it was important to show that Britain appreciates the Soviet Union as a country, but, at the same time, its political regime is unacceptable for Britain.

Orwell's work became the sharp critics of the Soviet Union, though the importance of the Soviet Union on the political stage of the world was not taken into consideration. The normal response on the book would be an apology to the representative of the Soviet Union and explanation that it is quite normal for people in Britain to express their opinion in different ways.

I believe that all the excuses and precautions from the British government should have been just a clever political step aimed in avoiding the opened conflict, nothing more. Thus, Animal Farm became an important political bomb, great political analysis and unique literature work that marked the beginning of new era: the era of Cold War.
